Yes, I am going to write about Amy Winehouse.
It's actually really bizarre.
In my purse I carry around a little journal in which I jot down random thoughts.
Often when I listen to the radio I hear songs that I forgot existed, but that I really like. So I jot them down in my little journal for my Manic Musical Mondays....
Oddly enough, and this is not made up for effect, Tears Dry On Their Own was my next pick.
I heard this song not too long ago and wondered to myself what the hell Amy Winehouse was up to lately.
Well, sadly enough, my question was answered yesterday.
It amazes me at how the passing of someone such as her sparks so much controversy.
On one end of the spectrum, some seem truly saddened that yet another extremely talented artist has exited our world in such a tragic way and at such a young age.
And on the other end, some seem genuinely pissed, claiming that we shouldn't pay homage to somebody who made such selfish and reckless choices and basically threw away her God given talent.
I think in all fairness, we can all agree that Amy Winehouse was battling.
The what and the how she was battling we will probably never really know and understand.
In the midst of all this controversy, I think we have to remember that Amy Winehouse was someone's daughter, sister and friend.
But, first and foremost, I think we have to remember that, at the core, regardless of fame and talent, Amy Winehouse was just a person...like you and me.
Nothing more then just basic human compassion is what makes me feel for someone I have never even met or know very little of.
We all have our qualms. It's how we choose to handle them that determines the outcome.
I just hope somehow, in this situation, peace has been found.
For what it's worth, I think her voice was gut-wrenchingly good and her beehive was hot.
